You will be aware that we have been using our new school crest, incorporating our Naíscoil, for some time now on our school website and on school correspondence. Moving forward, our school uniform will also have the new crest for Naíscoil agus Bunscoil Bheanna Boirche. Although it may appear just a small change, we are of course very proud of our school uniform and this change is an important one in helping us foster a deeper sense of inclusion and identity in our whole school community.
Our friend Paul from McKenny’s Menswear in Castlewellan has been working on incorporating the new crest onto our uniform and stock will be available in the coming months. We have also begun incorporating the new crest onto our O’Neills gear. Paul has very kindly offered a voucher for a free uniform as a raffle prize to help us promote the launch of our new updated uniform as well as helping us raise some school funds. I’d like to thank Paul for this very generous gesture, and for his support for our school. Some of our senior pupils will go around the school over the last two weeks of February to sell raffle tickets, 20p a ticket or £1 a strip.
I want to reassure parents and guardians, similarly to the approach we’ve taken in the past when introducing changes to uniform, that we are introducing this update with a phased approach, and pupils are very welcome, and indeed encouraged, to continue to wear the school uniform with the previous school crest for as long as they wish.
