Turas chun na Gaeltachta

20th May 2024

Bhí am ar dóigh ag páistí Rang 6 agus Rang 7 ar an turas s’againne chun na Gaeltachta ar na mallaibh. Chaith muid cúpla lá den scoth i gcomhluadar Gaeil óga eile an chontae. D’fhan muid i dTeach Jack agus bhí am iontach againn. Bhuail muid uilig le chéile agus bhí dioscó againn an chéad oíche. An lá dár gcionn, chuaigh muid go dtí an trá ar maidin agus d’imir muid roinnt cluichí lenár gcairde ó Bhunscoil Mhuire agus Phádraig. Bhí an deis ansin againn dul go dtí Ionad Cois Locha agus bhuail muid leis na scoileanna eile ansin. Bhí lón deas againn, chaith muid am sa pháirc shúgartha ansin agus bhí na páistí uilig ag súgradh agus ag meascadh le chéile go maith. San oíche, bhí oíche airneáil speisialta againn in Acadamh Ghaoth Dobhair lenár gcairde ildánacha ón Chrannóg. Oíche ghalánta a bhí ann.

Ba mhaith liom buíochas mór ó chroí a ghabháil le Múinteoirí Rachel agus Caoimhe agus le Stephen a thug suas a gcuid ama go fial flaithiúil chun na páistí a ghlacadh ar an turas seo. Gabhaim buíochas fosta lenár gcairde sna gaelscoileanna eile a tháinig linn agus a chuidigh linn turas maith a dhéanamh de. Buíochas millteanach mór fosta le Comhairle Ceantair an Iúir, Mhúrn agus an Dúin a thug tacaíocht ollmhór dúinn a lig dúinn an turas seo a reáchtáil. Buíochas mór lenár dtiománaí bus Oliver a bhí cineálta foighdeach linn le linn an turais. Agus ar deireadh, ba mhaith liom buíochas mór ó chroí a ghabháil lenár gcairde uilig i nGaoth Dobhair as fáilte mhór a chur romhainn ar an turas seo, na daoine galánta Tigh Jack agus Tigh Campbell, muintir Dhún Lúiche ag Ionad Cois Locha agus ar ndóigh ár gcairde ón Chrannóg agus ó Acadamh Ghaoth Dobhair.

Rang 6/7 pupils had a great time on their recent trip to the Donegal Gaeltacht. They met with four other Irish Medium schools in County Down and participated in many different activities together. They had a disco on their first night and met with the other pupils in Teach Jack. The next day, they went to the beach and then to Ionad Cois Locha where they had the opportunity to play in the park, on the pedalos and bouncy castles with their peers. The second night, they sang and danced with the local children in Acadamh Ghaoth Dobhair.

I would like to say a big thank you to Múinteoirí Rachel and Caoimhe and Stephen who generously gave up their time to take the children on this trip. I also thank our friends in the other Gaelscoileanna who came with us and helped us make it a good trip. A huge thank you also to Newry, Mourne and Down District Council who gave us huge support to run this trip. Many thanks to our bus driver Oliver who was kind and patient with us throughout the trip. And finally, I would like to say a big thank you to all our friends in Gaoth Dobhair for giving us such a warm welcome on this trip, the lovely people of Teach Jack and Teach Campbell, the people of Dunlewey at Ionad Cois Locha and of course our friends from An Chrannóg and Acadamh Ghaoth Dobhair.

Tá súil againn gur bhain na páistí uilig sult agus tairbhe as an turas.
