Ceannródaíocht sa TFC

27th Jun 2024

Tá foireann na scoile an-bhródúil go deo, ag ceiliúradh linn gur éirigh linn na Gradaim Barr Feabhais TFC a bhaint don dara huair ar na mallaibh, i gcomhpháirt lenár gcairde ó Ghaelscoil agus Naíscoil na mBeann agus ó Bhunscoil an Iúir.

We at Naíscoil agus Bunscoil Bheanna Boirche are incredibly proud having been named as winners for the second time at the Capita ICT Excellence Awards last week, this time for the work we have undertaken in partnership with our friends at Gaelscoil agus Naíscoil na mBeann and Bunscoil an Iúir.

Our three schools have been working together to strengthen our relationship through the use of digital technology, and we are delighted that our pioneering work has been recognised by Capita.

The judges were particularly impressed at how we used digital technologies to design an innovative model whereby our pupils and teachers could strengthen relationships and working partnerships, sharing lessons and good practice, and exhibiting work on shared digital learning platforms. These practices allowed us to enhance and promote our commonality in school ethos and values, while also helping us to upskill both pupils and staff in their digital literacy.

We look forward to showcasing our model to the wider Irish-medium sector later this summer at an Irish-medium digital skills conference in St. Mary’s University College.

We are so very thankful to our wonderful ICT co-ordinator Máire Uí Bhuadáin who designed and steered this initiative, and to all of the staff of the three schools for their work in implementing this pioneering project. This project has involved classes right throughout the school, and our whole staff must be commended for this great work. Ar scáth a chéile a mhairimid!

Pictured at the ICT Excellence Awards held on Tuesday the 25th of August in the Merchant Hotel Belfast, are Chief Executive of the Education Authority, Richard Pengelly, Deputy Secretary for Education Policy at the EA, Linsey Farrell, along with múinteoirí Máire, Rachel, Sinéad agus Ciarán. We also met up with some friends of the school from the Áisaonad in St. Mary's University College, and Comhairle na Gaelscolaíochta.

You can also enjoy a video from the evening giving a short summary of what was involved in the project:
