SENTINUS Summer Schemes

Seo ceann dona heolaithe eadraibh! This is some information which might be of interest to any of our budding scientists. Sentinus NI, who work to develop Scientific learning in our schools, are organising 1 week summer schemes across Northern Ireland for pupils aged 9-13. Details below. Application forms can be downloaded from their website www.sentinus.co.uk or a hard copy can be obtained from Aingeal on request. The two nearest locations for the summer schools will be Downpatrick and Newcastle - see below for further details:-

Build Your City of the Future

This one week Sentinus Summer School will give young people, aged 9 – 13, an opportunity to explore what our cities might look like in the future. Working in teams, they will consider energy and water needs, communications and transport, housing, food production, recreation and much more. They will have an opportunity to build a model to represent their ideas.

Derry – Foyle College, 16th – 20th July

Downpatrick – St Patrick’s Grammar School 2nd – 6th July

Dungannon – Royal School Dungannon, 30th July – 3rd August

Enniskillen – St Michael’s College, 23rd – 27th July

Newcastle – Shimna Integrated College, 2nd – 6th July

Newry – Our Lady’s Grammar School, 6th – 10th August

Newtownabbey – Ulster University, 16th – 20th July

Omagh – Drumragh Integrated College, 30th July – 3rd August

Strabane – Strabane Academy, 13th – 17th August

Who: Young people 9 – 13 years old

What Time: 9.30am – 4.15pm (drop off from 8.30am, pick up by 5.00pm)

Food: Participants bring break, lunch and drinks (no meals provided)

Instructors: All experienced staff and Access NI checked

Cost: £95.00 per child

What They Said: "My girls are veterans of the summer camp scene and they agreed that this was by far their favourite. They thoroughly enjoyed the entire week and were full of enthusiasm. They spoke very highly of the leaders, commenting on how helpful and kind they were.
